Due to various fitouts and refurbishments from previous occupants that undermined the heritage aspect of Truganini, Graphite Projects were tasked with restoring the property to its former glory in partnership with TCB Project Management and LSJ Heritage Planning and Architecture.
Works included re-pointing of the entire sandstone façade, installation of new boundary fencing with ashlar grooved render to blend in with the main building, the complete replacement of the existing straight and curved roofing and eaves, replacement of termite damaged timber flooring and substructure, re-building, rendering and painting the badly damaged veranda structural wall and stairs.
Inclement Weather
The roof replacement works commenced at the start of one of the wettest Octobers on record. To try and mitigate the risk to the programme, double shifts were undertaken to utilise any breaks in the bad weather. This enabled the roof replacement to be completed on time.
Operational Business Park
All works had to be completed with a fully operational café adjacent to the property and constant pedestrian and car traffic from the 30 neighbouring industrial units. Through a well-developed management plan and open communication with all stakeholders, the works progressed with no stoppages and minimal disruption to neighbouring tenancies.
