St George Private Hospital – Operating Theatre

In order to meet the increased requirements for patient facilities at St George Private Hospital, Ramsay Health’s brief was to convert an existing storeroom into a new operating theatre. The key to success was to complete the refurbishment without any disruptions to the working needs of this busy state-of-the-art medical facility.

Access to the site was created via a temporary entry through a fire stairway which allowed all materials and waste handling to be done whilst the adjacent theatres remained in full use. Extraction fans diverted dust away from the operating theatres and precise planning avoided any disruption to the power supply.

Whenever minor works were necessary to areas outside of the site boundaries, temporary hoardings were installed utilising a ‘ZIP’ wall system that avoided damage to the existing finished surfaces.

The new facility provides another operating theatre which enables up to 10 extra procedures per day and five additional beds in an extended recovery ward.
