Teachers Health was established on 1954 to provide teachers, support staff and their family members access to quality health insurance products.
Teachers Health occupied Levels 3 and 4 of the existing building located at 260 Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills and were expanding into part of Level 5. The works included the fitout of Level 5, installation of interconnecting cantilever staircase, installation of custom feature LED lighting, services upgrades, and fire curtain installation.
Graphite Projects was engaged by Teachers Health to undertake the fitout works under a lump sum contract agreement.
The project was delivered in three stages allowing Teachers Health to maintain full business occupation and continuity throughout the works. Out of hours works such as demolition and new stair penetrations were delivered throughout the 3 stages of the project.
Stage 1 works included the completion of Level 5 fitout which consisted of new workstations, collaboration area, meeting rooms refurbishment and installation of a new kitchenette.
Stage 2 of the works involved full front of house fitout for Levels 3 and 4 including new breakout areas, boardroom and meeting rooms upgrade, back of house installation of new utility spaces, storage areas and upgrade of the existing stair void aesthetics.
Stage 3 consisted of finalisation of the stair balustrade, installation of carpet, custom LED lighting, timber hand-rail and installation of fire curtain including the integration into building fire matrix.
Services upgrade to the building included significant redirecting of the existing services to accommodate the new architectural stair installation.
Graphite began purchasing of long lead time items prior to the procurement process to allow prompt and early indication to the availability of the specified items and consequently successful delivery of the project.
