Shaw and Partners

The new Sydney headquarters for Shaw and Partners, one of Australia’s preeminent investment and wealth management firms, was completed in the prestigious Chifley Tower. Graphite Projects was engaged to deliver the highly detailed 2,200m2 fitout which spanned over 2 floors.

The works involved the installation of an interconnecting staircase including the slab penetration and a complete upgrade of the base building mechanical services as an integral part of the fitout.

The result is an elegant workplace, featuring a ‘front of house’ client zone for meetings and functions, a highly detailed boardroom with full bar facility, executive meeting rooms, video conferencing technology and a servery area for catering.

The reception area includes a combination of perforated plasterboard and natural timber ceilings, creating a seamless surround for services fittings. This element continues to the underside of the new staircase allowing the design language to flow between both floors.
The main office area included installation of 190 workstations, 20 LED television screens, and custom designed acoustic panelling to the exposed ceiling — the installation of these multiple elements required meticulous planning and coordination between sub-contractors.
In addition, the facility includes a state-of-the-art soundproof media room, CEO meeting room featuring switch glass for privacy, staff breakout area, and plant and communications room upgrade.

Graphite Projects was engaged by Kernel Property under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) Construction Management model moving to a Lump Sum delivery contract. This allowed Graphite’s team to work closely with the design consultants and the clients Executive Committee to ensure all elements of the design were practical and compliant. On-site stakeholder management was crucial due to multiple fitout works progressing in parallel and limiting access to the building’s loading dock.

The project has created an environment that reflects Shaw and Partners reputation of being a significant investment and wealth management firm with the intimacy of a boutique agency.
